Watch and pray

[Verse 1] At the Passover table, Jesus sat with His own, With a heart full of love, He revealed what was unknown, “The one who will betray Me is among you,” He said, A sorrowful moment, as the battle lay ahead. They saw the bread and the cup before their eyes, But Jesus saw the battle hidden in the skies, They saw a peaceful evening, they saw a simple meal, But the spiritual war was something they could not feel. [Chorus] Watch and pray, for the enemy is moving, Stand in God’s strength, let your faith keep proving, Put on the armor of God every day, Truth and righteousness will guard your way. We wrestle not with flesh and blood, But with powers of darkness and the unseen world, Lord, strengthen us, help us stand, With Your armor covering every hand. [Verse 2] Jesus was led into the desert to pray, Alone with the Father, preparing for the way, The tempter came with promises and lies, But the Word of God became His battle cry. He did not choose comfort, He chose obedience, He stood on the truth, He stood in holiness, Where others saw weakness, heaven saw victory, A faithful Son fulfilling God’s decree. [Bridge] In Gethsemane, beneath the night sky, Jesus told His disciples, “Stay awake nearby,” “Watch and pray,” because temptation was near, But they slept, unaware of the battle and fear. They did not see what was coming their way, They did not know the price of that coming day, But Jesus remained faithful until the end, Showing us how our souls we must defend. [Prophetic David Verse] Prophet David, lead us up the mountain to seek the Lord, To find His presence and hear His living Word, While He is near, while His glory remains, We lift our hearts and call upon His name. Kampala Davids, who are we to lead the way, Unless the Spirit of God guides us each day, Teach us to worship, teach us to stand, To carry His presence across this land. [Final Chorus] Watch and pray, do not fall asleep, Hold on to God, His promises keep, Take the shield of faith, take the sword of His Word, Let your life proclaim the name of the Lord. Like Jesus stood when the darkness came, May we stand strong in His holy name, Through every trial, through every fight, We will walk with God in His eternal light.
